How to Make Your Own Real Estate Site

Any realtor with a brain would want a real estate website. However, busy agents are diverted in many ways and they do not have the time to create an attractive and effective site. Some may be comfortable using WordPress or Squarespace but they do not know how to make a local MLS search engine optimized (SEO) page. The only viable alternative is to hire a professional realtor web developer or pay an online real estate website company. Either way, it is better to understand the underlying concepts as opposed to blindly following a template.
The most basic things about real estate websites are:
1. The home page should be easy to find and not too cluttered with information. Realtors should answer the top three questions a prospective buyer will ask, such as price, location, photos of the house and other important details such as open houses. It is not necessary to have all these elements on the first page but the home page must answer these questions to begin the online search process.
2. Second page of an agent’s website should be a property listing featuring the photos of the house, the address, price, previous years sales and other key information. The photos are more important than most agents think. Many good agents have websites but they do not have photos on their site. The prospective buyer is attracted to the photos and not the descriptions. The agent’s website without photos will be ignored by buyers.

Real Estate Agent Websites & Homepage Design

Home base websites are not required by real estate agents. However, if you have a website for your business then you may want to consider having a home page that contains some of the following: your company logo and contact information; a short biography; the number of inquiries received in each market with link to your website; your area of expertise; the top three cities where you represent property buyers and sellers (i.e. your market); links to your social media accounts (i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook).
Another type of website that is particularly useful for real estate agents is the online CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. This can be a simple, free Excel spreadsheet or an advanced system with extensive support. Examples of CRM systems include: TightDots CRM; MyCall First; and Expion CRM suite.
An easy way to display contact information, whether on your website or business card, is to include font-sized text in your logo and name (i.e., “John Smith Realty”). Another option is to list the following information on your business cards: name and contact information; area of expertise; business hours; phone number (and email if you prefer); email address.
TIP: Keep your profile information updated (i.e. updates made in blog posts, social media posts, photos, etc.) as much as possible. Agents want to see that you’re a current active agent with whom they can establish trust.
