But don’t you want to know what is steam table and how it works?

I know what you’re thinking, “Why should I learn about how a steam table works when I can just watch it do its thing?” Well, there are a few reasons. First off, this website is not the best at teaching the intricacies of modern day microscopic fried chicken cooking technology. In fact it might be one of the worst at that that you’ve stumbled upon thus far. But more importantly, if you want to understand the nitty-gritty of how this technology works and actually care about it, that’s what this page is for.
If you feel this is beyond your ability, please skip the following section and go back to reading about fried chicken instead. I’m just here to help those that are interested in dabbling in this type of cooking. (Or really really don’t know how it works because you obviously don’t care.)

Everything starts with the steam tray. This is what will be used to cook the food.
The steam tray is basically a big flat piece of metal that sits on the side of the fryer. The purpose of the steam tray is to keep hot air from escaping from inside the fryer, so initially it will be hot. As you start cooking, it sucks up more and more heat from the machine, which just results in more and more hot air inside.

This makes things easier for cooks, because they don’t have to do a lot of work cleaning and cooking the food. The place where this hot food is kept is called a “steam table” not just because it contains steam, but also because that’s where the cooks put most of the food.

Steam: Steam is used in cooking and preparing food. It acts as an agent that transforms water into energy. The water molecules are split apart by the heat of the oil cooking process and are then heated by high pressure air stream until they become gaseous — steam.

The steam table is one of the most frequently used cooking appliances in the modern world. It’s only fitting, seeing as it is one of the most recent inventions to have been created. The steam table has made a major impact in the culinary industry and has become essential to many restaurants and fast food chains across the country. Without this appliance, there would be no way to maintain certain foods for a long period of time and no way to prepare other foods in large quantities. The steam table is a must in the food preparation industry today and is a very simple device that has been used for decades.
The steam table came to be created in 1952 by George Myer, the president of White Consolidated Industries. He was clever enough to see a rational use for his invention, and saw an opportunity to improve upon what was already being done with steam tables. Back then, restaurants would maintain large amounts of food products on their carts as they are moved from one area to another. Now, with the steam table, food products can be stacked on shelves and the shelves would simply be placed in carts. The steam tables keep heat at a constant level and are used to cook and warm up food items. They make it simple for workers to prepare large quantities of food without having to spend hours doing so.

With the advent of the steam table, a restaurant or a building can be equipped with an appliance that effectively turns heat energy into something useful. That’s right, I just said that the steam table is kind of like a reverse dehydrator. Water molecules are turned into gas and then into steam inside of the appliance. This gas is then separated from the food via a process of evaporation. Once the water has been evaporated, all that remains is whatever else happens to be inside of the food. The great thing about this process is that you now have a delicious and healthy product to serve your customers or for use in your home!
The three main types of steam tables are countertop, cabinet and undercounter. They all do their jobs but what sets them apart is how they are used and their overall size. The amount of steam you need to evaporate will depend on what kind of table you get. Countertop steam tables, like the one pictured below, are the most common and are recommended for every day use. These tables are relatively inexpensive and can be found at any variety of department stores.
