So your on the eighth day of a ten-day backpacking trip and you need a break. Your looking for something to do. You have been sleeping in tents and eating bologna sandwiches cause that’s all you can find on the trail. You decide to go into town and see what happens! You hit the library and the internet and you find that the best deals are on flights to Gatlinburg. So “why not” you say and head to bryson city- nc. You make reservations at a motel, and check out all the sights in sylvan lake with your roommates, who are from: athens ga, gatlinburg tn, roseburg oregon, lansing mi -seems like a lot of different places to you.
You then go out to a restaurant with them for dinner and find out that you are in fact also in bryson city- nc until next monday! You get back to the motel, and decide to rest up. You wake up on Sunday morning, and decide you’ll take a day trip into gatlinburg from the motel. You get in the car and go…
1). After getting through gatlinburg, you call your pals from back home on ‘cell phone. So they can hear the sounds of nature, they all say “are you calling us?” even though your in the middle of nowhere.
2). You get to the airport and find out that there is NO rental car agency in gatlinburg! what a rip off, you have to go to pigeon forge which is another 20 minutes away.
How to Travel from BCSN Atlanta Georgia to Gatlinburg Tennessee
From the airport in Atlanta take a taxi to the rental- car center. When you return your rental car tell the agent that you are going to Gatlinburg TN. If you are more than two people ask them if they have any one-way deals. Also, tell them that it is a work related trip. You can pick up a day pass to use in Knoxville at the Knoxville airport when you return the car, if this makes sense to your co-worker or friend. Knoxville is only a 30-minute drive from Gatlinburg. Tell the rental-car agent that your work will pay for it and if it makes sense to them, they will do it. This is a great way to get out of town for the weekend, or even a long weekend. It’s always nice to get away for a few days
When you reach Knoxville, stop at the Visitors Information Center, where you will find maps and brochures on Gatlinburg and all the surrounding attractions. You can also ask them about any activities like river rafting or other adventures that you may want to go on. Or if you are interested in having them put you or your co-worker in touch with someone who can take care of your trip. Ask them to put you in contact with someone who can help you or use their contacts to find someone else.
You can also ask the Visitors Center if there are any hotels that are free for the weekend. The Visitors Center will be able to direct you to the nearest hotel. Call ahead and ask about rates and availability, so that you can decide if it makes sense for your needs. Also, make sure that you confirm the rates with them before you book the room so that there is no confusion when you get there.
If you are traveling solo, ask the Visitors Center about advice for activities for single travelers. If you have any questions or need some advice or directions, just stop by and ask. This is a great place to visit so bring your group there when you arrive in Knoxville. It’s free to visit, and will provide some much needed information about what to do in Gatlinburg for that week or weekend.
Where Are The Best Hotels In Bryson City & Nashville TN?
After getting through the rental-car reservations and sitting though the line at ~2:00 pm with over a hundred people behind him, your co-worker will get you a reservation at the “Shabby Cottages”. This is a place to go after college. It’s not a bad place to stay, but it’s nothing special. The rooms come with a microwave, refrigerator and a freezer. They are neat, clean and have a fair price for such things. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, arcade games, restaurants and lounge (with entertainment-live music at night). It is about five blocks from the main street of downtown Bryson City. The hotel is a no frills place, but it’s just far enough from the chaos of downtown Bryson City to make you feel like you’re in some sort of peaceful nook.
You know your friend is excited because she can’t stop talking about how she used to go there as a teenager and how it’s really cool now! Even better, that day, she got her gift card for the restaurant ahead of everyone else (at least according to the checkout data book). She went to the restaurant, located just off the lobby, and had a stir fry. She said it was good but it wasn’t anything spectacular. While you were waiting on your friends, you went online and found a coupon for one free meal if you booked your hotel through their site. You decided to take advantage of that deal because the price was fair (and free meals are always a good thing).

If your on a family vacation you may decide to take your kids to see the “bearwallow knob” this is a neat thing to do with kids. The kids can hike up the knob and play around there. If you can’t hike the knob (maybe your crippled) there is a shuttle that runs every 15 min. What do the big rocks mean? well its pretty cool the black bears have made a fort out of them about 10 years ago. The toll for the shuttle is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12.
