How I was Selling Housing Online Before the New Council Bluffs City Council Bumped The Price Up $50 Per Square Foot & I Wasn’t Happy About It
Hi I am Stephanie Beinner, 33 year old investor living in Council Bluffs. I found out that the price of housing in Council Bluffs has increased $50 per square foot. So I was looking to move and found a great place right on the river called The Waterway at Chapel Ridge Apartments. Great location near schools, shopping, parks, and entertainment! This place is in a great neighborhood. I found out that I could stay rent-free for two years if I paid the amount of $750 down and a one month security deposit. This was very appealing to me being an independent person who doesn’t want to put any money down on a house. I am an investor first and more importantly, a person who cares about the environment. I have worked hard for everything I have. I don’t want to burden the environment at all by not using alternate forms of travel.
I like living in Council Bluffs and most importantly, I like working here. I notice that my rent is higher than what it is in other places, but the money that I save on housing costs and gas is very rewarding from a financial point of view. The only problem with Council Bluffs as far as housing goes is that there aren’t a lot of places to live. When I would look at homes on the Internet for sale, I found out that the price of housing online was lower than what I would pay in person. In fact, it was $30 per square foot cheaper to go look at homes than it was to try and get a house off of the Internet. I know this because the prices were confirmed by the people who lived there. When I tried to rent my place through Craigslist or apartment finder , they didn’t work because they couldn’t get ahold of me back in three days.
What’s Happening with the Price Hike for Property in New Bluff?
So I called the New Bluff City Council, who told me it was a mistake on the side of their staff, so they brought it back down to $750. However they kept my security deposit even though they knew I just found out about this price hike. That is not right! The city should have let people know that prices are going up soon or at least offer a discount on the price like the City of Omaha did this year for tenants. But this is not a place for rent; it’s a place for home owners. So I can’t understand why they would punish home owners and investors like themselves by causing a panic in New Bluff.
Well I don’t want to panic, but what’s going on with the price hike for property in New Bluff? The city council just up their fees by 20% and it was written on the city website today. Well this is terrible news, and they knew they were making a mistake even after they admitted it to me. That is not right. They kept my security deposit, but that’s just an extra slap in the face. But to add insult to injury they sent out a press release telling people they would be increasing the property tax by more than 15% yet they keep people’s security deposits. Great job New Bluff City Council!
Conclusion: Chapel Ridge Apartments Council Bumps – What to Expect When You’re Moving To Iowa City, IA
So I was going to move here and find a great place to live. The New Bluff City Council should have let people know about the price hike too because yeah, $750 down is cool if you can afford it. But families cannot afford this rent! I called the city council office and told them not to take any more rent on the property; they told me they wouldn’t. So I went to the property managers office to let them know that I have changed my mind and don’t want to live in that place anymore. The property manager said that she doesn’t need to tell me anything, THEY DON’T CARE! They literally took everything from the tenants into the property, including furniture and carpets… They even got rid of the pool table and chairs in the common room. Some of them are homeless people now! It is so crazy! The property management company doesn’t care. They probably have a list with all the tenants their names took out of the apartment when we moved in. I am only 25 years old and trying to take care of my mother who has cancer, and other issues. I don’t think its fair for us to be living like this.
