Do you know Californians are using some weird utilities like water heaters to stay warm at night? Is this a problem? What if your home was doing the same thing and it was causing you to be uncomfortable. I bet millions of people are having the same problem right now, right? Why isn’t it fixed?

A few days ago, I placed my laundry in the dryer to run it out while I made dinner. When I checked on it later, there was no dryer noise and a wet load of clothes. It had not been turned off, nor on its lowest setting. This infuriated me. I checked and double checked that the power was on, and it was. I finally called Time Warner to send a technician out. The earliest they could get someone out was two days later. After checking the outlet, I noticed that the dryer had no plug. It must have fallen off when I moved the machine and gotten lost. The next day, I called Time Warner again to find out how much a new plug would be. They wanted $14 for a new one. So, I drove to Lowe’s and got my own for less than $2.
I wasn’t satisfied with this, so I called what I thought was the corporate headquarters. It turns out that it is not their head office, but a call center in southern California. They couldn’t help me with any issues concerning billing or service calls. So, I called the # on their billing receipts. The guy on the line fixed my dryer. He said he could have someone out to my house in 15 minutes.

Two days passed, and the dryer had not been repaired. After another call to Time Warner, I was told that they could have the repair the same day if I left my name with them and they would send someone out. After spending so much time on hold with them, I agreed. It turns out that they need to order a part before sending someone out. They said that they would call back in 20 minutes to let me know when the part had been ordered. The majority of the time was spent waiting on hold with Time Warner. When they called back, they told me that they could not send anyone out until I called them back and filled out another form; a credit authorization request. Once I did this, one of their phone-operators would send an email to their technician to fill out and make sure that the authorization was received by my account prior to coming out to service my dryer.
