Gulf Shores, Alabama to Pensacola, Florida.

How have you travelled by Gulf Coast?

I took a drive from Gulf Coast Alabama to Pensacola Florida and for a long time I had no idea what was going on. Like, I would see US Highway 98 off in the distance and think to myself how is that possible? And I suppose it’s not. That’s how far apart the cities are, towns even. Yet, it is the Gulf Coast and it is amazing. I had a great time and want to share some of my favorite stops along the way.
I can assure you that these are worth visiting if you are anywhere near them. You will find a number of them along Highway 30A, but there are others you may not know about as well. We have been from Florida to Alabama to visit friends and have found so many things to see and do on the Gulf Coast that we hope to go back again soon.
Enjoy!

What are the best beaches near you in Gulf Shores, Alabama?

That’s a hard one. As a whole, there are a lot of beaches near Gulf Shores. If I had to say, though, I would say Lanier Beach on the east side and Harding Beach on the west side. Those two are right next to each other and they’re both really nice and clean. If you’re into fishing or looking for shells, those are good places to go. I like Lanier Beach because it’s real peaceful and secluded. That’s the kind of beach I like. There are no crowds.
So, I would say, if you’re looking for a nice place to take your family to, I would go to Lanier or Harding Beach. If you’re into surfing and stuff like that, there’s a million other beaches which have better waves than those two.
I don’t think a lot of people know about these beaches but that’s where I hang out. Maybe they don’t know they’re there because they can’t see them from the highway. Lanier Beach is a little bit hard to find because it’s not on the road. So, I would say if you want a nice place and you’re looking for somewhere that’s a little less crowded, head over to Lanier or Harding Beach.

Because both of these were talking about waves/surfing, we can assume that both beaches are similar and have similar surfing conditions. Furthermore, they both also have similar coastal lights, and appropriate body of water nearby (gulf/bay). When people are taking a photo, we assume that it is a photo of an ocean beach scene. So far nothing has fallen into the mystery category; however, this does open up the possibility of deriving more meaning from the photo.

If you are a first time reader of this blog it’s probably because you’ve been attracted to my blog by the title “Gulf Shores” and the location of my main blog in Pensacola. But I’m not going to lie: I’m also very switched on when it comes to the major cities across America’s second largest state – those cities include Tallahassee, Miami Beach and Jacksonville. That’s right; I live in Florida too!

I feel like you need to know that as a Florida native who has lived at the state’s southern and northern ends. I’m also going to say that I think it’s important that people who live in North Florida should have a good idea of what people like in South Florida and vice versa. I guess I’m the kind of guy who likes it when people know their neighbors, you know what I mean?
I am just about to take a trip to the vast state of Alabama and I’m thinking that I should prepare a blog post about it. And I’m going to make this post as long as a trip report – because this is my blog and my rules!
So, here’s my list of things you need to know about the city of Mobile.
How many people live in Mobile, Alabama?
Mobile is the second-largest city in the state of Alabama by population. You know, it is one of the two major cities in Alabama [the other being Birmingham] and it’s the second-largest city in the state by population. There were 230,613 people living in Mobile as of July 1, 2017 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
The official website of Mobile is www.mobilegov.com
But wait; before I say anything else about how many people live here, I’d like to remind you that Mobile is the county seat for Mobile County, Alabama.

So how did we end up here? Well, one of my good friends recommended me his new startup offering a Gulf Shores/Pensacola journey planner app called A Traveler’s Guide To…

The Traveler’s Guide to… is a nifty app that helps you figure out everything from where to eat to where to get gas and directions to the beach- which is pretty awesome as you can see by the screenshot above! The app itself is pretty cool. Apparently it was created by a Florida Tech (Florida Polytechnic University) student. I downloaded it when I was in Pensacola, but then again I was also in Pensacola and not Alabama. Since I’ve been in Alabama, I haven’t used it at all. But I do plan on using it next time my Dad and I travel up to the beach.
The great thing about this app is that it’s available for iPhones, Android phones, and Blackberrys. You can also just log into their website if you don’t have access to any of these devices or an app store. I haven’t tried the website though, so maybe you can tell me if it works!
Tell me if you use this app or website! I’m curious what you think of it.
