This is a blog about some of my personal experiences with the black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix. Some of my personal anecdotes with this adorable mix of two different types of dog are that they’re very loving, loyal and always willing to please. They’re a great pet for a single owner who is looking for something to be their companion, but not the best option for a family with small children. They may be kind and gentle, but they’re still capable of being very protective.
I got my dog about five years ago from a rescue, but I’ve only been able to keep him for two years after I adopted him. He started showing some signs that he was going to be difficult and potentially dangerous around children. He didn’t show any signs of aggression until he did and that’s never a good thing to happen. I had to make a decision to give him up which was difficult, but it was probably the best choice for everyone involved.
What is a Roanoke Coonhound Mix Dog?
A Roanoke or Roanoake Coonhound is a hound dog that was originally bred by fox hunters in the state of Virginia. This is one of the first dogs to be bred and used to hunt raccoons. The American Kennel Club (AKC) officially recognized this breed as a coonhound on January 1, 1933. The term coonhound is used to describe a dog that is specifically bred to hunt raccoons. The black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix that I have at home is a great hunter, as well as a great family pet. The natural ability of this breed to hunt and herd makes it a good choice for dog lovers. The Roanoke Coonhound, a dog with many names, can be traced back to the Waccamaw area of the state. These creatures were used by Virginia farmers to rid their fields of pesky raccoons. The dogs were able to hunt the animals for long hours without tiring and would also search for tracks in order to track down their prey.

Coonsrottweiler Breeding History & Genetics
The coonhound rottweiler mix originated from a breeding of a purebred rottweiler and a purebred coonhound. The first known breeding of black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix was on January 13, Colorado in the year 1988. The mix is made with the intention to create a dog that is great for hunting raccoons, but can also be used as a family pet. This dog is not officially recognized by the American Kennel Club. There are certain organizations that recognize the black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix as a breed; however, they do not officially recognize this particular mix of dog as a breed.
The black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix was really developed in 1989 by a breeder named Elaine Williger. Williger bred a purebred coonhound with a purebred rottweiler. The goal for breeding was to produce the best hunting dog possible. Williger stated, “Based on the fact that both dogs are excellent hunters, I wanted to create a dog that had characteristics of both breeds. I believe I have been successful in creating the dog.”
All Things Roanoke for the People of Coon Creek
FOR THE PEOPLE OF COON CREEK is a slogan that I use on this blog. It’s where I talk about all of the things that I do with my black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix. Some of the things we play are catch, run through the woods, chase each other and just act silly. Sometimes when it gets really cold outside we like to lay by the fire, then we hop on the couch and take a nap. My name is Willow and some of the things I do are:

How to Breed or Buy a Coonhound Mix Breed Puppy & Get Support From the Animal Shelter in Raleigh NC
I WOULD LIKE TO BREED OR BUY A COONHOUND MIX BREED PUPPY by giving you some helpful tips to help you understand the black and tan coonhound rottweiler mix. First of all, you have to remember that this is not a dog for everyone. You have to understand the commitment that you’re making because a coonhound mix does require tender loving care. Please remember that this breed of dog was originally bred to hunt for raccoons, so you have to make sure it has space to run and play. You should also purchase a crate for your new puppy, so that it will be safe from predators. Your little dog won’t be able to defend itself from the squirrels if you don’t give it enough time to run and play.
You have to understand this too… a coonhound mix is not going to remain trained like an average dog. It will take lots of time, training and guidance. You have to be sure to commit time and energy everyday for the first 16 months of your coonhound mix’s life. You have to let your little puppy know that you love it, but it has to learn from you at the same time because dogs are smart animals, even though most of them aren’t able to verbalize their feelings.
