Whoever Took Over the NYTimes Columnist’s Account Needs to Return it Immediately
If you think that writing about the Trump administration is too hard, if you go to The New York Times website and read about a column by the now-suspended columnist. Or you read the column and think: “I am not even sure how this is supposed to have been written, that is so hard to understand,” then please save yourself the trouble. The culprit behind the fraudulent column has to be identified as soon as possible, as well as those who are responsible for allowing it. The New York Times security department has to be made aware of this immediately, so that they too can launch an investigation. If someone or some entity is able to impersonate a New York Times columnist and write an article about the Trump administration using his pen, then it is impossible for the newspaper to do the investigative work, critical thinking and deep thinking required for analyzing what is going on in our country. Whoever did this has to be exposed, as well as those who enabled them.
We’re not even sure that we understand the content of this column. We prefer to believe it’s a spoof, even though it was written by a real New York Times columnist. But if it is a real column by the person impersonating Mr. Trump, then we have to assume that they’ve been given access to the internal database and systems of The New York Times so that they can write columns under his name without anyone noticing anything amiss.
But if this is the case, then how come The New York Times still has a real columnist? How come they didn’t get rid of him? How can a newspaper allow this kind of fraud to happen? We read journalism books, so we know that what happened was impossible, but yet it happened. It’s an unprecedented act of fraud, and yet it happened.
The New York Times’ Opinion Page is a Trainwreck
It is quite obvious that whoever took over the blogger’s account was not doing it properly. The New York Times has to investigate every aspect of this scandal as quickly as possible. The most important thing for them to do is to make sure that the opinion page returns to normal, or at least some kind of decent writing. This means that they must find out what happened and try to improve their standards in general.
Before my essay, I spent over an hour looking at various posts on the opinion page. Here is what I found:
