How We Built The ‘I Am Not the Same Person Anymore’ AI-Enabled Personal Assistant for Real People

Building an Autonomous AI Assistant to Make Your Life Easier & Better

Welcome to the world of smart home assistants, voice-based virtual assistants, and Google Homes. Just in the past year or so many big names have emerged in this space to compete with one another. Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri, Samsung Bixby and Google Assistant are some of the most popular assistants out there today. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t build your own assistant and make your own smart home for a lot less than these big companies want to charge. This is exactly what I will be sharing with you in this article: how to build your own smart home assistant and Google Home-like device.
The main goal of this project is to build an autonomous AI assistant that is able to recognize different types of inputs and respond with the appropriate outputs. For example, if the device is currently changing the temperature at home, it should be able to recognize this and take the appropriate actions to save energy. If a stranger is at home and asks for directions using Google Home or an Amazon Echo, it should be able to recognize that and respond accordingly.
This project will be based on [OpenAI Gym](https://gym.openai.com/) which can be used in conjunction with [TensorRT](https://www.tensorrt.org). OpenAI Gym is a tool to train reinforcement learning (RL) agents, which are agents capable of learning and adapting to new environments. In this project, we will be using TensorRT as the main runtime engine which will serve as the central hub for communication between the RL agent and the hardware used to run it.
