The history of population in Keystone Heights Florida is one that has been relatively stable. The census records from 2010 show a population of 3,238, with an estimated population for 2020 of 3,769. It’s projected that by 2035 there will be 4,088 people living in the city limits. Keystone Heights is located in the north peninsula of Florida and is part of the greater Bradenton area. The city is bisected by the Manatee River which runs from east to west through Keystone Heights. Currently in a small bowl-like area, Keystone Heights has been undergoing a gradual expansion that has seen the city expand northwards into areas that were once forested wetlands, and there are plans to continue this expansion in more areas which will see new development. The city is probably best known for its status as the birthplace of the soft drink Florida Sunshine. The city is also home to several large industrial facilities, including a paper company, a power plant and an elementary school.

Gainesville’s first permanent white settler was Dr. Daniel C. Osgood, who settled on the banks of Hogtown Creek near the site of the University of Florida in 1866. A small but growing group of settlers arrived in what is now downtown Gainesville in the winter of 1866-1867, having first come to Florida from Alachua County to escape the ravages of the Civil War. A post office was established in Gainesville in 1878. The city of Gainesville was established on February 22, 1883. The railroad arrived in Gainesville in April, 1886, spurring population growth.
